“As an indication of the desire which I have cherished for many years that, as a token of Hindu-Muslim cordiality, these two communities should have a reverence for each other’s prophets and great men and should, if possible, join in honoring their memory. I am sending my message of goodwill on the occasion of your celebrating the 13^th centenary of the great martyr.

I do hope that the commemoration of this great martyr’s sacrifice from year to year will be productive of great food to the Muslim community.” – M. R. Jayakar
