“On this, the thirteen hundredth Anniversary of the Martyrdom of the Grandson of our Holy Prophet (on whom be Peace) I desire to remind you and all other Muslims, who are commemorating the Day with due reverence and solemnity, of the high moral and spiritual significance which underlies that great sacrifice.

Imam Husein, together with a small band of faithful and devoted followers, laid down his life with cheerfulness and unquestioning obedience to the will of God in the cause of right as against might, thereby serving Islam from the greater disaster of having to follow a wrong lead.

The best way, to remember this celebrated event is for Muslims to take to heart the lessons which Imam Husein has taught them by his example, which is to walk fearlessly in the path of righteousness.” – Osman
