Shaykh Gerami was born in Qom in 1938,
where he later entered into its seminary, after finishing primary school and some
intermediate classes. At the age of eighteen, he began the Kharij level of Fiqh
(jurisprudence) under Ayatollah Uzma Boroujerdi and Imam Khumayni. Shaykh Gerami also
benefited from many eminent scholars such as Araki, Gulpaygani, Ha'iri, Yazdi, Muhaqqiq
Damad, and Mirza Hashim Aamuli in the areas of Fiqh and Usool (principles). He learned
philosophy from Ayatollah Sayyid Muhammad Husayn Tabataba'i.
While studying in the Islamic Seminary, Gerami had the opportunity to teach
most of the seminary texts. Today, Shaykh Gerami teaches Fiqh and Usool at the Kharij
stage. Shaykh Gerami has many compilations in the field of Fiqh, Usool, and other
sciences.
It is said that Shaykh Gerami has participated in many political activities
against the regime of the Shah, and he has played an effective role in days of
establishing unions, states' and districts' cooperatives, the referendum, and the
capitulation. As a result of his hard work he was imprisoned and exiled many times. |
