He was born in the month of Sha`ban 1347 A.H. (1928 A.D.) in Qom.
When he was only four years he learnt Qur'an, the collection of poetry of Sa`di, Farsi
literature, and mathematics from his father the late `Allamah Shaykh Mehdi Haram
Panahi. Later he entered the Haji school where he studied the preliminary level of his
studies with Shaykh Gulam Husayn Fadhil Kashi, and the intermediate stage with the
late Agha Yousif Aamadi, Ayatullah Baha'ud Dini, Ayatullah Sultani, Ayatullah Sayyid
Muhammad Sadiq Shari`at Madari, and the late Mujahidi. He benefitted from the knowledge
of eminent scholars such as Sayyid Muhammad Hujjat, Sayyid Muhammad Taqi Khansari,
Agha Husayn Boroujerdi, Sayyid Muhammad Reza Gulpaygani, Shaykh Muhammad Ali
Araki, and Ayatullah Sayyid Muhammad Muhaqqiq Damad. He also attended the lectures
of Ayatullah Sayyid Muhammad Husayn Tabataba'i on Philosophy.
Ayatullah Haram Panahi was teaching as he was learning and it is said that he was
teaching every book he read. He was teaching the Kharij stage of Fiqh, Usool, conducting,
researches, and writing books from the time he attended the lectures of the late Ayatullah
Boroujerdi.
Ayatullah Haj Shaykh Muhsin Haram Panahi is a member of the researchers of the book
titled "Jami` Ahadith al-Shi`a".
