Ayatullah Subhani A distinguished scholar in the Qom

Biography Ayatollah Subhani was born in Tabriz, Iran in 1922. He went to a theological school after finishing primary school. In the theological school he studied Arabic literature, Fiqh (jurisprudence), and Usool (principles). His studies there lasted until 1946. After 1946 he migrated to Qom to enter the Islamic Seminary there. In Qom he participated in the classes of Fiqh, Usool, Tafseer (Quranic commentary) and philosophy. There he learned under eminent scholars such as Ayatullah Boroujerdi, Imam Khumayni, and Sayyid Muhammad Tabataba'i for about fifteen years. Subhani began a magazine, Maktabe Islam, which is still being published; this was done in collaboration with some well-known scholars of the Islamic seminary. His has also published and directed another magazine on theology, named Kalaame Islami, the first issue was published after the resounding victory of the Islamic Revolution in Iran. At present, Hajj Ja'far Subhani is teaching the advanced levels of Fiqh and Usool. *His works: Books, treatises, articles, and other works of the above scholar are written in Arabic and/or Persian.
